Judges 9 (part 2)

So Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, hid during the killings and survived.  Abimlech's brothers (the leaders of Shechem) the brothers of his mother-the maidservant, convinced everyone to crown Abimlech king.  They wanted him to rule over them because he was of their flesh and bone - he was their brother.  All the leaders of Shechem and Millo crowned Abimelech king over them.  When Jotham heard this he stood on mount Gerizim and cried and said to them, “Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.” (wait – selah)    Then Jotham told a parable, gave a remembrance of his father and told them of a curse that would be on them if they indeed had dealt unfairly the curse would come upon them from God
